Hi Alison,
I believe the water taxi will be starting up around the end of May. There is also a road that travels around the bay, it is about an hour's drive from Norris Point to Woody Point.

Hope this helps,
Jacqueline

Hi there,

I would like to ask whether the water Shuttle running from Woody Point to Norris Point will start operating this coming May. Yes I have contacted the company but yet received no reply, so I am wondering whether I can get some fast info here....If not, what would be the best way travelling between the places?

Thanks!

Hello
My name is Linda Yurcich.
I live in St Catharines, On

Apparently some distant family were born and raised in Woody Point.
As I get older I am more interested in family history.
My Great Grandmother was born in Woody Point Bonne Bay around 1881.
Her name was Irene Vincent.
Her mother was Hannah Galliott.
Her father (I think) was Andrew Vincent.
Her mother died when she was 15 and she left to live with relatives in Halifax.
She married had 4 children (my grandmother) and moved to England
Around 1909 she returned to NL and married a Mr Cutler and had more children.

I believe other family names were Shaw, Gilliam, Gormley and a few others.
Could you help me in locating anyone who migh have information.
my e mail address is tly50@yahoo.com
Thank you so much

Thank you for your kind words about Woody Point. Clean-up around town is an ongoing issue that the council is addressing on a daily basis. We are actively promoting a cleaner and tidier town to all our residents. It is a beautiful area and we want to enhance on that beauty.

CONGRATS Jacqueline. My hope is that the town will be cleaned-up. The garbage
left in fields consisting of disabled vehicles and other things is not very attractive in
such a beautiful area. The hills and water are so relaxing and inviting . It would be
much more appealing to the tourists and the local residence. I am a former resident
and visit yearly. Wishing you all a great year and much success. L Dolmage

Woody Point is a beautiful spot. The tablelands are a wonderful place to discover the history of the earths mantle. Its like a walk back in time. As soon as you enter the bay and near Woody Point itself, you will see the spectacular tablelands. Gros morne Mt will be over your shoulder. The town has many historic buildings and a rich history. there are places to check email. The Libruary is one. If you have your own laptop with you, wireless connections are available at The granate coffee shop, The royal Canadain Legion (no membership required) the lighthouse restaraunt to name a few.
The people in this little hamlet are wonderful. Friendly, friendly and friendlier.......I was on the last Maasdam visit. Venders were set up on the waterfront. It was a little rainy and windy that day but the sun did appear from time to time. They handed out info when you exisited the security area on the dock. Dancers, Musicians and mummers. Buses were set up to go to the discovery center and tours. The food at the two restaraunts and coffee shop and a little backroom cafe were wonderful. There is a post office and lots of gift shops offering all sorts of crafts and unique gift ideas. You will enjoy this stop.
